The recurring problem with Google's Play Store is the presence of malicious apps, such as those carrying the Anatsa banking trojan. Despite Google's assurances of removing dangerous apps and implementing security measures, the malware continues to reappear in the store, putting millions of users at risk of having their sensitive banking credentials and financial information stolen.
Recently, 90 dangerous apps with 5.5 million installs were found on the Play Store. These apps were discovered by cybersecurity firm Zscaler and many of them were part of the ongoing Anatsa malware campaign, which has targeted over 650 apps tied to financial institutions.
